Prof. Akinwumi Oluwole Komolafe is a distinguished Professor of Morbid Anatomy and Forensic Medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and a Consultant Pathologist at the OAU Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC). He is a leading expert in the intersection of medicine and law in Nigeria.
He maintains a unique professional practice that bridges Anatomical Pathology and Forensic Medicine, specializing as a medicolegal investigator of death. He has served multiple terms as the Head of Department for Morbid Anatomy and Forensic Medicine and has also held the role of Director of Residency Training at OAUTHC.
He holds an MBChB from OAU, is a Fellow of the Medical College of Pathologists (FMCPath) and notably earned a Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Law and Ethics from De Montfort University, UK. He developed the “12Cs of medicolegal evidence” and pioneering frameworks for autopsy interpretation to improve legal decision-making in medical cases.
His research in histopathology includes gastrointestinal, breast, and prostatic pathology.
